Is it safe to buy a laser pointer for astronomical use?

The laser we have is 5mw output, normally it is safe to use for astronomy, especially when used responsibly and for their intended purpose.
However, some countries have strict regulations regarding the sale and use of laser pointers due to safety concerns.

In Switzerland and Australia, there are specific restrictions on the use and importation of lasers. These countries regulate the power of laser devices and may prohibit the sale of lasers above a certain power output (typically 1mW for visible light lasers). This is to prevent potential harm to people's eyes and to ensure safety in public spaces.

You may need to check local regulations or consult with authorities to ensure compliance.
For safer alternatives, we recommend using non-laser alignment tools, such as a phone mount or polar scope, which are more widely accepted and compliant with local regulations.
