Yes, the Starter Kit (NOMAD, Laser, and Ballhead) is not ideal for the Southern Hemisphere. This is because the guide star Sigma Octantis is too faint and difficult to locate, making the laser pointer less effective for polar alignment.
For the Southern Hemisphere, we recommend using the Phone Mount Kit or the Richard Kit for more accurate and efficient alignment.
